Relative Pronouns

- A relative pronoun refers to nouns (people, places, things, animals, ideas).  
- It is used to join two sentences together.  

Common Relative Pronouns & Examples  

- Who → for people.  
  - The cyclist who won the race trained hard.  
- Whom → object form, for people.  
  - These are the girls whom all praise.  
- That → for people, animals, or things.  
  - The pants that I bought yesterday are already stained.  
- Which → for animals or things.  
  - Spaghetti, which we eat at least twice a week, is one of my family’s favourite meals.  
- Whoever → general person.  
  - Whoever comes is welcome.  
- Whomever → object form of whoever.  
  - The four team leaders, whomever the committee selects, will be at tomorrow’s meeting.  
- Whichever → choice among options.  
  - Take whichever you like.  
- When → refers to time.  
  - The book, when it was finally returned, was torn and stained.  
- Where → refers to place.  
  - The store on the corner, where we usually buy our art supplies, burned to the ground.  

Usage Rules  

- Who → used for persons only (singular or plural).    
  - Blessed is he who has found his work.  
  - He who hesitates is lost.
