The Scholar's Dilemma: A Pre-Examination Chronicle

On the eve of the paramount board examination, Milind's progenitor, Pradip, imparted sagacious counsel to his progeny. He exhorted Milind to commence his preparations for the forthcoming Mathematics examination. Should any conundrums arise, Pradip suggested convening a study assembly with his peers at their domicile for collaborative elucidation. Milind's maternal figure, on the other hand, proffered her wisdom: only if his comrades were in possession of the revision materials and solutions should they be invited; otherwise, it would be an exercise in futility to embark on a comprehensive study from inception.

Heeding this advice, Milind extended an invitation to his triumvirate of confidants: Arya, Spruha, and Amee. In due course, they were all received with warm hospitality at the Milind household. The quartet congregated around the teapot table, each armed with their geometry apparatus, examination papers, and scratch paper for calculations.

Spruha extricated a set of revision notes pertaining to Bearings from her satchel. They embarked on their problem-solving endeavor, attempting the sums with earnest. However, the more arduous equations were left unresolved. An hour hence, they initiated a thorough discourse on the paper. Amee, the mathematics savant, dispelled most of their perplexities, yet a vestige of confusion lingered. Without hesitation, she seized a chart paper and commenced an explication from the rudiments.

On the day of reckoning, as Milind grappled with the examination, he realized with dismay that he had neglected the study of trigonometry's axioms and the mensuration formulas. Despite the collective study session, he found the examination to be a formidable challenge.

Upon his return home, Milind was engulfed in a maelstrom of despondency. The tumultuous emotions within him refused to be quelled. A torrent of self-reproach ensued; he lamented his decision to eschew solitary study. 'The bearings, a topic inundated with queries by Spruha and Arya, ought to have been mastered by now! Was prior preparation too much to ask for?' These thoughts besieged him.

'Their presence impeded my academic pursuit. An entire day devoted to a singular topic within the realm of trigonometry, when I could have canvassed the entire syllabus alone. Henceforth, I shall disregard paternal guidance and forsake collaborative study. Alas, it was counsel ill-advised.'

Q2. Write a narrative that ends with '....one piece of advice I should have ignored.'

Preparation for the board examination

One day before the main board examination, a child's father, Pradip advises his son, Milind, that he needs to start preparing himself for the next day's Mathematics paper, if he has any queries he can call his friends over to the house to understand and study the concept together and clearly. Milind's mother's piece of advice was that if his friends already have the revision paper and answers with them, then he can feel free to bring them home, otherwise, it's a waste of time to study everything from the beginning. He invites his three friends: Arya, Spruha and Amee to his house. After some time, everyone is welcomed at Milind's house. They all centre themselves at the teapot table. They all settle in with their geometry toolbox, question paper and rough papers for working.

Spruha removed the revision paper regarding Bearings from her bag. They all start by solving first by trying. The sums, which were difficult to solve were left untouched. After an hour, they all started with the paper discussion. Amee, the math expert, solved most of their doubts, but there was still a misunderstanding left. Then she quickly grab hold of a chart paper and started explain them all the way from scratch.

On exam day, while Milind was writing the paper, he found out that he missed studying the rules of trigonometry and mensuration formulas. He also finds the exam tough even though he studied with his friends.

The time when Milind reached his home, he was very disappointed. He wasn't able to bury his feelings deep inside his body. He wasn't calm about what happened yesterday. He started feeling guilty, that he should have self-studied. 'Spruha and Arya had so many doubts about bearings that were supposed to be completed now! Couldn't they do it before?' These were a few of his thoughts.

'I couldn't complete my studies because of these people. We only studied the bearings topic in the trigonometry chapter in the entire day. If I would have self-studied on this day, then I would have revised the entire subject. I will never listen to Dad, and will never call my friends to study with me. That was one piece of advice I should have ignored.
