Technology can never fully replace people. To what extent do you agree?

Technology, grounded in scientific knowledge, serves practical purposes and significantly impacts our lives. Its influence spans across various domains, from health and education to communication. Technological advancements have introduced exciting features, allowing us to engage with Artificial Intelligence (AI) robots such as ChatGPT, Gemini AI, Copilot, and Monica AI. Despite these impressive benefits, technology cannot substitute the unique capabilities and contributions of humans.


Online communication often leads to misunderstandings. When we input messages to AI software, the responses may fall short of our expectations. A study by Pew Research Center shows that 32% of Americans believe AI will improve by 2050 to understand human emotions. Until then, conversing with friends provides more personalized and helpful perspectives. Hopefully, advancements in AI will not overly replace human interactions. Human communication is deeply rooted in emotional and social contexts, which machines are yet to fully comprehend and replicate.


Moreover, technological advancements have slightly decreased job opportunities, with a 40% reduction in some areas. Many workplaces prefer robots over employees to cut costs, leading to unemployment and inactivity for some individuals. The economic impact of this trend is significant, as it affects not only the individuals but also the economy as a whole. However, a study in the Journal of Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking suggests that streaming on social media platforms can alleviate loneliness and boredom. Engaging in online communities and content creation provides a sense of purpose and connection for those affected by job displacement.


Additionally, according to Harvard Business Review, over 80% of cybersecurity incidents result from human error. This statistic highlights the importance of technological interventions in reducing errors and enhancing security. Features like word and emoji suggestions, provided by tools such as Grammarly, enhance efficiency by reducing grammatical and spelling errors. This automation not only saves time but also improves the quality of written communication. Additionally, one-time PINs and the 'paste from messages' feature expedite tasks. By 2030, automation is expected to create 3.3 to 6 million new jobs, though these positions will require employees to acquire new skills. This shift underscores the need for continuous learning and adaptation in the workforce.


Certain tasks, such as solving complex problems and providing detailed explanations, are irreplaceable by technology. For example, in educational settings, personalized teaching and mentorship are crucial for students to grasp complex concepts. Online translation services often produce awkward and inaccurate results, emphasizing the importance of human expertise in language. Language is not just about translation; it involves cultural nuances and contextual understanding that only a human can provide. Only individuals can teach these nuances effectively. 


I firmly believe that while technology will improve in the coming years, it will also bring significant changes to our lives. It will make our lives easier, and we must strive to study and work diligently to be prepared for these new job opportunities. Embracing lifelong learning and staying adaptable will be key to thriving in an increasingly automated world. At the same time, it is essential to remember and celebrate the irreplaceable value of human interaction, creativity, and empathy.
