Descriptive Writing

Key Techniques  

- Figurative Speech → use similes, metaphors, personification.  
- Five Senses → sight, sound, smell, taste, touch to create vivid imagery.  
- Show, Don’t Tell → describe actions and details instead of stating facts.  
- Past Tense → often used in descriptive narratives.  
- Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives → enrich detail and clarity.  
- Zoom In & Focus → highlight specific details for stronger impact.  
- Vocabulary → choose precise, expressive words.  

Examples  

- As the soldier rolled the carpet, he saw the princess dancing gracefully to the rhythm.  
- The clouds in the sky are as fluffy as white cotton balls.  
- The beach was a fairyland.  
- The water was as crystal clear as a diamond.
