Summary of how the Osprey is adapted to ensure its survival and what threatens its continued existence.

Osprey, the fish eagle, lives near coastal areas. They have reversible toes, which help them to catch fish. They can detect at first sight, when it is away by 40 metres. Its nasal passage closes with it puts its feet into water. Fish eagles have faced many threats for the past 300 years. They have suffered issues due to chemical DDT and other pollutants present in the water. New forest management has removed the ancient pine trees, where ospreys have built their nests. Immature fish eagles are often injured as they get entangled in the fishing nylon thread. Sometimes they have fishing hooks stuck in their throats. The reduction of fish stocks affects the ospreys the most during winters.
