Dear Amee,
How are you? A month ago, I had participated in a competition. The competition was to recreate a game by using some mathematical techniques. The participants had to give a speech on the famous Indian mathematicians. The best game created would be given an opportunity to meet Shakuntala Devi.
After putting up a brilliant show, luckily I won the competition and got a chance to meet Shakuntala Devi. We binged over flavoured chips and had a few talks on how she became a human calculator. The meeting was so good that I got to help her with a few problems, which she posed earlier. It was motivating to find her calculating answers mentally, which were quicker than a computer.
She gave me an entire day to visualize how she works and solves problems. It was an overwhelming time that I spent with her. I was a talisman. I would want you too to participate in such competitions so that you will be able to share a moment with important personalities. The problems, she has been solving to date, were repletely knotty. We should learn some things from her.
Yours lovingly,
Yashvi Gavankar
