Write Alison Hargreaves' last letter to her parents after deciding to stay.

 Dear Mum and Dad,

How are you? I am making an important decision today. I was planning on giving up, but then later I thought that it would be sad that I came all the way here to limb this summit and I'm keeping this journey incomplete. Finally, I have decided that I am extending my trip by 1 week at K2.

Hence, I have agreed to complete my dream journey, even though it's cold out here. While me and my fellow climbers were climbing up the mountain, the weather was nice. But as soon as we reached the peak of the mountain, the weather turned into a bleak hurricane. This may be my last letter to you as we aren't able to control our bodies in these chilling winds.

As you know, I have been wanting to be the first British woman to climb the 2 highest mountains in the world, which include Mt. Everest and Godwin Austen. Most people say that climbing mountains is a sport for boys, therefore I want to prove them wrong. Climbing a mountain is a sport for everyone.

My fellow climbers inspired me, to complete the mission I was here for. They didn't give up because of the climate change. So even I thought to be a part of it and to not give up that easily.

After this whole journey, I am waiting to meet my husband and hug my kids tightly. I haven't seen both of my kids, Tom and Kate. They must be waiting for me to be back home with them. Please tell them that I'm missing them so much. I'll be back with them as soon as possible.

You don't need to worry about me, I'll protect myself. You must be proud of raising me, who is willing to continuously take risks. I hope that I the reach the up of the mountain on time.

Yours,

Alison
