Q: Today, I would love to present to you the famous Japanese actress, who is also an author, ‘Tetsuko Kuroyanagi’. You might have heard about her book “Totto-chan”.
A: Hello, I’m happy to be here with you today!
Q: How do you deal with negative book reviews?
A: The best way to get over a bad review is to start your next book. Sure, it may garner a bad review as well, but I’m willing to bet that it’ll be better than your last work. Plus, now you know how to better handle bad reviews.
Q: What advice would you give to a writer working on their first book?
A: It takes a lot of time to finish writing the book, so you should have patience with yourself. Always carry a notebook. And I mean always. The short-term memory only retains information for three minutes; unless it is committed to paper you can lose an idea forever.
Q: What are the most important elements of good writing?
A: Let's refer to my book "Totto-chan: The little girl at the window"!
The important elements include characters, story, and setting. Characters: In my book, Totto-chan is the main character, also known as the protagonist. The setting is where the story takes place. Plot or story: whatever happens next in an order. This story should also have a twist, that creates suspense, or curiosity in the reader's mind. You can also add some dialogue if your characters are speaking something.
Q: What inspired the idea for your book?
A: My book is written about me and my childhood life, so I haven’t added any new characters, in this book. Hope you all loved my book!
Q: Thank you so much for joining us here today!
