About
- Dara is a traditional game played with stones and holes dug in the ground.
- The modern version uses a checkerboard grid (6×5), making it easier to play at a table.
What You Need
- 12 tokens in two colors (buttons, coins, or any small objects).
- Game board: 6×5 grid (make your own).
- Players: 2
Phases of Play
1. Drop Phase
- Decide who goes first.
- Players alternate placing tokens on the board.
- Once all tokens are placed, the move phase begins.
2. Move Phase
- Players take turns moving one token at a time.
- Goal: create three in a row (orthogonally, not diagonally).
- When a player makes three in a row, they remove one opponent’s token (not part of a row).
Constraints
- No more than three tokens in a row (no four‑in‑a‑row).
- Optional rule: players may not form three in a row during the drop phase.
- Even if allowed, no captures are permitted during the drop phase.
- Tokens that are part of a row of three cannot be captured.
- Rows of three must be orthogonal only (horizontal or vertical).
- No diagonal moves are allowed.
