Maharashtra, my home state, beckons travellers with its lush green landscapes, tantalizing cuisine, ancient temples, and vibrant festivals. Tourists flock to this region, drawn by its diverse attractions. Multiple airports and train stations facilitate easy access to various destinations. Whether by car or a cab, exploring Maharashtra's tourist spots promises an enchanting journey.

Festivals and Traditions:

Diwali, Holi and Ganesh Chaturthi hold special significance among the Maharashtrian people. During Ganesh Chaturthi, homes come alive in the presence of Ganpati Murti. The festival decorations showcase intricate arrangements, as seen at Dagdusheeth Halwai Temple. Devotees offer 21 modaks (a sweet dish) to the Murti, either fried, steamed or in the form of patholi. Maharashtrian women don the elegant nauvari saree, often adorned with a feta (headpiece).

Culinary Delights:

Maharashtra's culinary scene is equally captivating. Non-vegetarians shouldn't miss Mutton Sagoti paired with Solkadi, while vegeterians can savour the thali - a delightful combination of chapati, steamed rice, pickles, dal, 2 sabjis (often including Kaju/cashew), and the sweet Kharvas (made from cow/buffalo's colostrum milk). Whether exploring its beaches, hill stations, or monsoon-drenched landscapes, Maharashtra offers every traveller a rich tapestry of experiences.
