Diary/Journal Writing

1. A diary is a personal account of a day or several days.

2. Begin with the date on which you are writing that particular diary entry. You may also choose to write the time.

3. Read the directed writing question and understand how many diary entries have to be made.

4. Relate with the character in which you have to make the diary entry.

5. A diary shall be written in an informal or personal tone. You need to add emotions and feelings appropriately to suit the character in which you are writing and the requirement of the question.

6. Diary is ALWAYS written in the first person.

7. The difference between a diary and a journal:

A diary is often a purely personal and private record, written in a colloquial style or even consisting of very short entries. Whereas a journal is likely to be a formal record of a journey or significant experience, intended for a wider audience and possibly for publication. It is therefore written in full sentences and with some consideration of style.
