Describe your feelings and reactions when you realize you have lost a very important item. (472 words)

 During the dark night hours, when everyone is lost in their dreams. I was returning home by an Uber Taxi. I received an emergency phone call, about my friend, Niyu, being admitted to ICU (Intensive Care Unit). I hurried to visit her. After meeting and having a conversation, I saw her moving towards the fresh start of her new life again. I stayed back in the hospital for her. Soon I realised the time for conducting the webinar was starting, so I quickly opened my bag to remove my laptop. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my laptop. Then I remembered that I was adding final touches to my presentation when I was sitting inside the taxi. Oh no! I forgot to put it back in my bag.

I tried connecting my phone call to the taxi driver several times but he didn't pick up the call. I lost my patience and decided to visit the nearby police station, but somehow there was no one. I filed a complaint case against the Uber driver, even though it was my fault, in the first place. They notified me via an email stating that they would deliver my laptop if they found it; otherwise, they would offer me 10 thousand rupees. I was poignant about losing my laptop, as it was from the best company Dell.

I was continuously having weird thoughts popping up in my mind whether the driver might have sold the laptop to someone or he had ravaged it to leak all my personal stuff to the internet, allowing access to everyone. I was worried about the webinar session that I was supposed to be conducting with the teenagers today, would be unhappy that I am again postponing it for next week. 

After 2.5 hours of depression and anxiety, the Uber team somehow transferred 50 thousand rupees with a message that a pen would be delivered to me within a working day. When the pen drive arrived, I found out that it had all my valuable belongings in my laptop. I mailed them to thank them for giving me my important files; I questioned them in a curious tone ' Where's my laptop? Why aren't you giving me, my laptop with those files instead of a pen drive?' They quickly replied that the laptop was broken into fragments and they wouldn't be able to repair the laptop. Henceforth we have given you some money by which you can purchase a new laptop from whichever company you wish. Sorry for your inconvenience.

I liked that they worked faster to help than the police team. Whenever I travelled in a taxi, I remembered this moment and decided to keep all the electronics in the backpack. I promised myself to never remove anything from the bag and to recheck everything before I left the taxi.
